Water Tree

The spring that got tired of an esoteric life

Oozes at the bottom of a well.

It fills in the dark circle of the well’s inside

And weaves beauty on to its vastness.

As it yearns to brim over, to flow spreading around

The walls of confinement move!

As its crystal imagination waxes

In clarity, that distant expanse of the sky

And the green sprouts on the earth

Look at it filled with surprise….

And someone decrees that,

Though the mind weeps, it should reflect

Everything smooth on its surface, and maintain life

And the water does it, deeply engaged.

Copying and reflecting the usual sights

It gets thoroughly bored

And raises its head looking around

For those who used to come frequently

Without a break, to sit and cherish each other.

Only the defined circle…eternal void.

When it is fed up with the dark life in the dungeon

And its eyes roam around,

It sees the mind of a damp seed

In the deep cool of the farm.

It throbs to germinate and sprout up;

It strives to spread its branches, and

Strugglers to rise and pass beyond the confines.

The water seeps through, increasing the wetness

And along with its desire, the water rises.

The seed sprouts

The heart quickens.

The body grows beyond and passes outside the well.

As the water carries it on its breast and clears up

With the impression that the heart is reflected

The farm is filled with seeds

The plenitude of visuals copies that.

Those who had once met,

And then forgotten each other after their tryst

Rise once again in clarity….

The water tree

Is uprooted and it falls!

That vision in water comes totally undone

And its mind shattered, it leaves the scene.

The river turns murky

The river flows  clear

peaceful.

Oh ! It chuckles

as i sit

burning on its bank.

My wood stove ablaze with burning embers

Waves arise in the gentle wind

spreading and moving afar

As my eyes wander listlessely

I meet a bewildering sight

Heaving tree tops. . . rocky hills

within the river depths...

The wind has

slowed down  now

And the river turns clear

My eyes halt

at the sight of a youth

Thin as a rake

on top of a dark rock

His gaze melts in my eyes. .

And in my very self. .

Ah! The murkiness therein. . .

could be the swirl of incomprehension

caused by a hostile birth star

Is he also deafened by the incessant howl of the river

Is he also burning...

I did not probe

A craving ignites my o…

Drawing a Bird

As I was drawing a bird

The wings were not

evolving exactly.

The beak was too sharp!

Why this dance of fire

In its eyes!?

It was a well-formed, pretty

Bird, but as I was drawing its legs

The canvas was pierced through

By its talons!

The feathers, arranged in varied colours

And laid out deftly--

All of them fell away

In a gentle breeze.

I turned impatient

On the day I sat down to draw the bird…

My brush became dry,

The ink having drained away.

Maybe because it sensed

A storm brewing

That the bird beat its wings

And flew away.

The day darkened well before dusk;

Without any place to perch for the night

The day flew away somewhere.
