നസീർ കടിക്കാട്
അഞ്ചുപേർ വായിച്ചപ്പോൾ തീർന്നുപോയ കവിത
ഇന്നലെ
എഴുതിയ കവിത
അഞ്ചുപേർ വായിച്ചു.
ഒന്നാമത്തെയാൾ
കവിതയിലെ വീട്ടിലെ
പെൺകുട്ടിയുമായി
ആരുമറിയാതെ ഒളിച്ചോടി.
രണ്ടാമത്തെയാൾ
കവിതയിലെ വൃദ്ധനായ
ഭിക്ഷക്കാരനെ
തലക്കടിച്ചു കൊന്നു.
മൂന്നാമത്തെയാൾ
കവിതയിലെ പുഴ വക്കിലെ
വീടും പറമ്പും വിറ്റ്
നഗരത്തിലേക്കു താമസം മാറി.
നാലാമത്തെയാൾ
കവിതയിലെ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ
രഹസ്യങ്ങൾ ചോർത്തി
അതിർത്തി കടന്നു.
അഞ്ചാമത്തെയാൾ
കവിതയിലെ തടവറ തകർത്ത്
നിരപരാധിയായ മനുഷ്യനെ
തുറന്നു വിട്ടു.
പിന്നെയും വന്നു
കവിത വായിക്കുവാൻ
ഒരു കൃഷിക്കാരൻ
ഒരു കച്ചവടക്കാരൻ
ഒരു കാമുകി
ഒരു അദ്ധ്യാപകൻ
ഒരു പത്രപ്രവർത്തക
ഒരു തൊഴിൽരഹിതൻ
ഒരു ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻ
ഒരു രോഗി
ഒരു സ്ക്കൂൾ കുട്ടി
ഒരു വീട്ടമ്മ
ആളുകൾ വന്നു കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു
ഈ കവിതയിൽ
ഒന്നുമില്ലല്ലോ എന്ന്
അവരെല്ലാം തിരിച്ചു പോയി.
തിരിച്ചു പോകുന്നവരെ തന്നെ
നോക്കി നിൽക്കുകയാണു ഞാൻ
A poem nothing of which
was left when five people read it
Five people read
the poem
I wrote yesterday.
The first one
eloped with the girl from
the house in the poem.
The second one
smashed the head of the
old beggar in the poem
and killed him.
The third one
sold his house and
land
on the banks of the
river in the poem
and migrated to the city.
The fourth one
leaked out State secrets
of the country in the
poem
and crossed the border.
The fifth one
broke down the
prison in the poem
and
let an innocent man free.
Others followed, to read
the poem.
A farmer
A trader
A lover girl
A teacher
A woman journalist
An unemployed man
A scientist
A patient
A school kid
A house wife
They all went back
disappointed there was
nothing left in the poem
I am stationed here
observing intently
the people who are going
back.

എന്റെ ശബ്ദം
ഞാൻ പറയുന്നത് നിങ്ങൾക്കു മനസ്സിലാകുമോ
എന്നെനിക്ക് അറിയില്ല.
എല്ലായ്പോഴും അത് അങ്ങിനെയാണ്.
എന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ
ഞാൻ സംസാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
ചീവീടിനെയോ,
പല്ലിയെയോ പോലെ സ്വകാര്യമായി.
പറമ്പിൽ പുല്ല് തിന്നുന്ന പശു
അമറുന്നത് ഞാൻ
കൗതുകത്തോടെ നോക്കി നിൽക്കുന്നു.
പശുവിനോടും ഞാൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
കിളികളോടും,മൽസ്യങ്ങളോടും,
നായ്ക്കളോടും,മനുഷ്യരോടും
അങ്ങിനെ തന്നെ.എന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ.
ഞാനപ്പോൾ സങ്കടപ്പെടുന്നു
സ്വന്തം ശബ്ദത്തെ തന്നെ ഓർത്ത്.
ആഗ്രഹമുണ്ട് സംസാരിക്കുവാൻ,
കിളികളോട് കിളികളുടെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ
മൽസ്യങ്ങളോട് മൽസ്യങ്ങളുടെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ
യാചകനോട് യാചകന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ
പട്ടാളക്കാരനോട് പട്ടാളക്കാരന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ...
എന്റെ തൊണ്ടയിലപ്പോൾ വായു നിറയും
വെള്ളം നിറയും
മണലും പാറയും നിറയും
വൃക്ഷങ്ങളും കുന്നുകളും നിറയും
സൂര്യനും നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളും നിറയും
സ്വർഗ്ഗവും നരകവും നിറയും...
മറ്റെല്ലാ ശബ്ദങ്ങളും അവയ്ക്കടിയിൽ
വീർപ്പുമുട്ടി കിടക്കും.
ഞാൻ പറയുന്നത് നിങ്ങൾക്കു മനസ്സിലാകുമോ
എന്നെനിക്ക് അറിയില്ല.
എല്ലായ്പോഴും അത് അങ്ങിനെയാണ്.
എന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ
ഞാൻ സംസാരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
മണൽതരിയോ,
ചെരുപ്പുകളോ പോലെ സ്വകാര്യമായി.
ഒന്നു കൂടി തെളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞാൽ
നിങ്ങളുടെ ഒറ്റയ്ക്കിരുന്നുള്ള വായന പോലെ.
My voice
I always keep talking
In my own voice
Not sure if you follow
Anything I am trying to
say
My voice is always the
same
Much like a cricket or
house gecko
Chirping away secretly in
a corner
I am fascinated by the
mooing cow grazing in the yard .
I talk to her too,
To the birds , to the
dogs
To the fishes and to the
people
I talk to all of them in
my voice
And my voice is always
the same
Troubled with my own
voice
I wish to speak
differently
To the birds in like a
bird
To the fishes like a fish
To the beggar on the
streets like a beggar
To the soldier like a
soldier...
Then i choke
I choke on the water
I choke on sands and
rocks
I choke on trees and
mountains
I choke on sun and stars
And hell and heaven in my
throat
All other voices are
muffled now
I don't know if you can
fathom
What i am trying to say
here
It is always like this
I keep talking in my own
voice
Like sandals to the sand
secretly
To draw a clear
picture
Its like your lone
reading !

എഫ് ഐ ആർ
അയാൾ മരിച്ചു
കുത്തിക്കൊന്നതാണ്.
മരിച്ചയാളെ എനിക്കറിയില്ല
കുത്തിയയാളേയും.
മരിച്ചയാളുടെ ചോര
എന്റെ വീടിനു മുമ്പിലൂടെയാണ്
ഒലിച്ചു പോയത്.
കുത്തിയയാൾ വലിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞ കത്തി
എന്റെ വീടിനു പിന്നിലാണ്
വന്നു വീണത്.
എന്റെ വീടിനകത്തിപ്പോൾ
രണ്ടു സ്ത്രീകൾ
ഒരേ ശബ്ദത്തിൽ കരയുന്നുണ്ട്,
അവരേയും എനിക്കറിയില്ല.
എന്റെ വീട്
നിങ്ങളുടെ വീടിനു
തൊട്ടടുത്തു തന്നെയാണ്,
നിങ്ങൾക്കത് അറിയില്ലെങ്കിലും.
നമ്മുടെ വീടുകൾക്കിടയിൽ
കുട്ടികൾ കളിക്കാറുള്ള
ചരൽമണ്ണു നിറഞ്ഞ
ഒരു മൈതാനമുണ്ട്.

അതൊരു കുന്നായിരുന്നു

yeah, he got
stabbed to death.
I know neither
the killed guy,
nor the jack
who stabbed him.
The blood of the
killed man streamed
past the front-porch
of my house.
The knife that the
murderer hurled away
fell bang on the backyard
of my house.
There are now
two women sobbing
in the same pitch,
inside my house.
I donot know
these women either.
My house sits
right next to
yours, though
you won't be
aware of it.
Snuggling between
our homes,
there's that
level clearing,
with loose gravel sands-
that ground,
the one,
where the children play.
It used to be
a hillside,
many moons ago.
